Ideal candidates are adolescents (ages 10-17) who may experience the following:
- History of treatment failures
- Multiple medication trials without success
- Repeated hospitalizations
- Complex or confusing array of emotional and behavioral symptoms
- Record suggestive of neurologic dysfunction
- Substandard performance in specialized school settings
- A need for time-limited evaluation and stabilization prior to entering a less intense setting, e.g. therapeutic boarding school
