Therapeutic Activities

In addition to treatment programs and educational services, San Marcos Treatment Center provides specialty services to our child and adolescent patients. These services are designed to be fun, exciting and to enhance the recovery process.

ROPES

Reality-Oriented Physical Experiential Services (ROPES) is available to children, adolescents and families as part of treatment. The course is a fun-filled, exciting and meaningful experience that has helped patients learn how to get along with others, be a positive peer and apply the skills they learn in therapies to real-life challenges.

Our ROPES course is a series of events that challenge our residents to grow and work together. Each activity that is utilized on the ROPES Course is designed to help kids learn about themselves, build their confidence and improve their ability to problem solve. At times, other experiential activities are used to ensure the patients are maximizing their opportunities. Benefits of activities on the ROPES course include:

  • Improved communication
  • Trust Building
  • Integrity

  • Giving and receiving help
  • Fostering independence to choose how they want to participate
